Gem & Jewelry Appraisals
We provide gemstone and jewelry identification, quality grading and appraisals (statements of value) both verbally and in report format for insurance replacement, fair market value and liquidation market. It is important that this service be performed by a GIA Graduate Gemologist and Certified Appraiser who is qualified to evaluate, properly identify, and give a professional accurate assessment of your jewelry, whether verbal or written, based on proper methodology and market research. Our appraiser holds these credentials.
By appointment, our streamlined process and appraisal technology allow us to perform evaluations in the presence of our clients while they wait. In cases where a physical report is to be provided, items are analyzed and photographed on-site, with the report mailed (or e-mailed) upon completion usually within 48 hours for single items. In the case of larger multiple property assignments, or those requiring extra research, the report will usually be delivered within 5 business days. This structure allows clients to depart with their items after the evaluation appointment.

Types of appraisal consulting:
Quality Confirmation/Grading
If you are interested in simply confirming what you have for own peace of mind, this service includes detailed descriptions and quality grading information only if delivered verbally. If delivered in report format, photographs will be included with the aforementioned. No statement of value is included with this service.
Insurance Replacement
If the retail value of your item exceeds the maximum coverage limit set by your standard homeowner’s or renter’s policy…or you desire to obtain standalone jewelry insurance, a report of this type will usually be required of your insurance provider in order to set up a scheduled endorsement policy. It is advisable to consult with your specific insurance provider for details and requirements prior to scheduling an evaluation with us.
Fair Market Value
Fair market value is defined by the IRS as the price of an item in a transaction between two private parties each with adequate knowledge of the item, neither party being under compulsion to buy or sell. A report of this type is generally required in estate settlements, division of property and divorce, as well as most auction estimates. We also provided this type of analysis and valuation verbally via in-office consultation.
Liquidation
The value stated in this type of service/report reflects the estimated forced or quick liquidation cash sale value of items within a 30 day period. It is based on wholesale and/or secondary pre-owned market value. We can provide you with an accurate liquidation value report which can act as a point of reference as you pursue the sale of your item(s).
